Let’s get into it! 👇🏽
Think of Your Client Transformation
Before you get into the nitty-gritty details of your coaching package, it’s best to start by looking at the big picture.
Make yourself a cup of tea (or coffee, if that’s more your thang!), pull out your favorite notebook and pen, and start brainstorming.
Ask yourself questions like:
- What problem will your coaching package help your client solve?
- What kind of results do you want to help your clients achieve?
- What are your ideal client’s biggest frustrations/challenges?
- What are your ideal client’s biggest desires/goals?
Once you’ve gotten clear on these questions, it’s time to start thinking about how your coaching package will get your clients from Point A to Point B.
What is your process for getting them from where they are now, to where they WANT to be?
When you get clear on this question, you’re essentially solidifying your signature framework or method.
To learn more about this, read our post all about how solidifying your signature framework can help you stand out as an online coach.
Once you’ve finetuned your method for getting client results, you can work backward and figure out the BEST structure for executing your method.
Think About How You Work Best
Another factor to take into consideration when creating your coaching packages is figuring out how you work best as an entrepreneur.
Do you prefer to work in shorter spurts of energy? Then shorter coaching packages, like 90-minute intensives, might work best for you.
Do you like to get REALLY involved with your clients, becoming a true partner in their business, and witnessing their growth over the long term? Then longer-term services, like 3-6 coaching packages might be more up your alley.
You want to think not only about what’s going to serve your clients and get them the best results…
But what’s going to serve you.
Because when you’re in alignment with what lights you up as a business owner, that enthusiasm and excitement will ripple into your clients’ businesses.
Take some time to think about how you can leverage your time, energy, and creativity to best serve you and your clients.
3 Types of Coaching Packages
If you’ve…
- Gotten clear on your client transformation
- And you’ve done a deep dive on how you work best
Then you’re probably looking for concrete examples of how to package your coaching services. So let’s get into three of the most common coaching package structures you can use to support your clients.
Long-Term Coaching Packages
First things first, let’s start off with one of the most common coaching package structures.
We’ll call this the long-term model.
If you opt for the long-term model, your 1-1 coaching program might span three, six, or even twelve months.
Your coaching program might be helping your clients achieve a specific, tangible result using your signature framework.
For example:
- A 90-Day Program to help virtual assistants properly set up their business and land their first client
- A 6-month relationship coaching program that helps millennial women manifest their dream partner
- A 12-month marketing coaching package that helps fitness coaches build their marketing funnel and hit $20k months
All of these coaching programs are focused on helping your distinct goal within a specified timeframe, using a signature method.
On the other hand, some coaches might opt for a more customizable coaching program.
Perhaps you decide to offer long-term coaching packages, but rather than work on one tangible goal, you focus on general support, accountability, and goal-setting.
With this type of coaching program, you might discuss your client’s goals in an intake form or during an initial session.
Then, you’ll make a plan for how to hit those goals during the course of your work together.
What to include in your 1-1 coaching packages?
If you’re thinking about going the long-term route with your coaching packages, you might be wondering what’s typically included in these sorts of coaching packages, so let’s break it down.
Coaching Sessions
Probably the most obvious element of your coaching package is, of course, the coaching sessions you have with your client.
Many coaches will choose to have weekly coaching sessions with their clients, while others might opt for bi-weekly sessions or even monthly sessions, depending on what else is included in the program.
These coaching sessions are usually 45 minutes to 1-hour long. In these sessions, you’ll dive deep into core coaching concepts, and this is often where you and your clients will have the most transformational breakthroughs.
Support In-Between Sessions
Whether you’re offering weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions, you’ll want to make sure that your client has access to some sort of support in-between sessions.
This way, if something comes up, they don’t have to wait until the next session to address it.
They can feel supported every step of the way.
Some of the most popular ways to support clients in-between sessions include:
- Email support
- Slack support
- Voxer coaching support
Note that these support tools are often used to quickly address issues, whereas you can often go more in-depth on your coaching calls.
Whichever tool or medium you use to support your clients in-between sessions, you’ll want to make sure that you’re properly setting and enforcing boundaries.
Make it clear exactly when your clients can contact you in-between sessions and exactly how long they can expect to wait for a response.
Because the last thing you want is a client sending you Voxer messages at midnight or hearing your Slack notifications go off in the middle of your Sunday afternoon!
The best place to outline your communication boundaries and policies with clients?
Your client contract, of course!

Coaching Resources and Supplemental Learning Materials
In addition to your regular coaching sessions and support in-between sessions, you’ll want to make sure you’re giving your clients specific action steps so they make the most of your coaching program.
This can look like:
- Giving your client homework
- Tracking action steps in a planner, spreadsheet, or shared Trello board
- Giving extra resources like PDFs, videos or articles to help cement certain coaching concepts
- Giving access to your lower-ticket offers to help your clients with a specific area of business
- Giving your clients specific templates they can use to execute in their business and get things set up faster
Think about what you can add to your coaching package that will heavily increase the value for your clients…without requiring too much extra effort on your part.
VIP Day/Intensive Services
If you feel like you’d rather keep your coaching packages short and sweet, then a VIP Day or Intensive-style service might be more your style.
VIP Days and intensives come in a variety of formats.
Jordan Gill, the founder of Systems Saved Me, creator of the Done In a Day Program™, and overall VIP Day QUEEN, defines a VIP Day as the following:
A 4-figure offering lasting 3-8 hours to lead your client through a 3-5 phase transformation.
Many coaches are LOVING the VIP Day model due to its ability to get their clients powerful results in a short amount of time.
If you’re looking for more whitespace on your calendar and love the idea of going deep with your clients for one day only, a VIP Day coaching package might be the perfect option for you.
If you’d rather deliver a mini-transformation, or the idea of devoting a full calendar day to your clients doesn’t jive with you, you might consider offering something like a 90-minute intensive.
And on the other hand, if you don’t think your VIP day transformation could fit into a 3-8 hour window, you could consider offering a VIP Day weekend retreat. Just make sure you’ve got the price tag to match! 😉
While VIP days can be an amazing way to diversify your product suite or replace long-term coaching packages altogether, you have to make sure you’re crystal clear with your boundaries.
Because your container is limited need to make sure all of your policies and expectations are clearly communicated in advance. Things like pre-work required, cancellation and rescheduling policies, communication preferences, the full scope of the service, and everything else to make sure the service runs as smoothly as possible.
We’ve got a VIP Day contract template in our shop that covers all these areas if you’re looking to launch a VIP day package!
Group Coaching Packages
If you’ve already experimented with 1-1 coaching packages, and you want to try something new, you might want to dabble into the world of group coaching programs, or even masterminds.
Curious about these models?
Read our post all about group coaching programs and masterminds and the key differences between them.
Group coaching programs do require quite a bit more setup, marketing, and automation than a regular 1-1 coaching package.
So we recommend experimenting with this type of package only once you’ve mastered 1-1!
Once you’re ready to leverage your time and transition from a 1-1 model to a 1-1 many model, check out this post on how to structure a group coaching program.
