Contracts – 6 minute read

We’ve seen countless coaching contracts coaches are using right now, and many of them aren’t even enforceable. 😳⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣Yes, sadly, it’s true.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣If you duct-taped together your client contract based on one you saw with another coach, an example you found on Google, or just based on your own ‘legal’ non-lawyer knowledge, my guess is that your contract ain’t enforceable, either. 🤷🏽‍♀️⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣And if you’re selling high ticket, well, you need that thing to be enforceable, sis.⁣⁣

Here are 3 things you’re probably missing from your client coaching contract:

1) Guarantees/Warranties

Are you guaranteeing your client *specific* results?⁣

If not, & you promote your services using client testimonials, or talk about helping clients increase their profits, reach 7 figures in revenue, or anything in between, there should be a clause that covers what you truly guarantee as far as results go.⁣

⁣Otherwise, if clients don’t reach the results they expected to reach in your program, you may find yourself in some hot water.

⁣2) Disclaimers

It’s super important that you make sure you’re protecting yourself from any unnecessary liability!

⁣Health coaches, make it clear that you’re *not* providing medical advice or diagnoses. Mindset coaches, let it be known that you’re *not* a therapist. Wealth/money coaches, be sure to communicate that you are *not* an accountant, CPA, or financial advisor.⁣

⁣When the relationship isn’t clear, it’s a breeding ground for legal disputes & scary liability.

3) Refund Policy

The reality of doing business is that not everybody is going to be satisfied with your services. Whatever your policy, just make sure it’s communicated to every client and in writing.

4) Scope of Services⁣

If you aren’t clearly communicating in your client contract what exactly the services are that the client will receive, your contract probably isn’t enforceable.

Simply stating that the client will receive “1:1 coaching for 6 months” just isn’t enough. Be more specific by stating the exact number of calls they’ll have, access to particular learning materials, Voxer communication/access to you, etc.

Without this clarity, there’s no way to know whether or not you’ve delivered the services that they’re paying for.

Final Thoughts

While there are so many things you want to make sure are included in your Client Coaching Contract, these are a few we see so many coaches going without and ultimately regretting because their contract isn’t enforceable when they need it to be – not to mention, a weak contract leaves you as the business owner vulnerable and unprotected. And there’s nothing good about that!
